Don't Worry, Be Happy!
Completed: April 2003
Size: 80" x 72"
Description: This incredibly colorful quilt makes everyone happy as the eyes jump from one area to another to discover all the activities occurring on the quilt. It has a butterfly just escaping from a web, a monkey who has just landed from space, mushrooms growing in the moonlight illuminated from flowers, hearts and flowers and feathers everywhere. What could be better? The background is a hand-dyed purple cotton fabric with beautiful hand dyed primary colors beautifully hand appliquéd with silk thread. At the time the top was designed, it was a stressful time in Cheri's life and she wanted to use bright cheery colors to uplift her spirit. Notice the sun at the bottom right hand corner is crying his eyes out and the little quilted bird is singing to cheer him up. All the other whimsical design elements are uplifting and bright. We hope looking at this quilt makes you happy too!
Linda quilted with neon thread and lots of YLI Jean Stitch to accentuate the movement in the quilt. All the elements are trapuntoed, as well as freehand Trapunto all over the quilt. . The Swarovski hot fix crystals were added for extra sparkle.
