Feathered Topaz
Completed: March 2004
Size: 80" x 80"
Description: The strong design elements on Feathered Topaz lend themselves very well to the Southwest flavor of the art piece. All of the elements were hand appliquéd by Cheri Meineke-Johnson. Some of her appliqué stitches are 40 stitches to the inch completed with YLI silk thread. Linda invented 2 new feathers on this quilt, her Indian Feather on the outer edge completed with gorgeous YLI cotton variegated thread and the Egyptian Curls around the inside edge. The quilting seems to blend in a little more than usual (for Linda's style) which seems to compliment the rich gold, brown and blue tones on the quilt.
Awards: Honorable Mention -Dallas Quilt Celebration 2004, 2nd Place -Machine Quilters Showcase 2004, juried in American Quilter's Society 2005.
